Psalm 139 – For Introverts
You have invaded my space,
Lord, and know everything about me.
You know when I relax and
when I’m restless; You read my thoughts when I am distant.
You’re aware of when I step
outside and when I retreat to my comfort zone.
There’s nothing You don’t
know about me. Before I say anything, You know it all.
You close in on me and gently
tap me on my shoulder.
Such nearness overcomes
me; it’s all too much for me to experience.
Where can I hide from You?
Where can I run away from Your presence?
If I fly up into outer space,
You are there. If I burrow beneath my blankets, You are still there.
If I get up real early and
cross the furthest ocean, even there You’ll be around to guide and comfort me.
If I wish that the darkness
would envelop me and make me invisible, even there You’ll see me, even there
You’ll find me.
So, invade my space, Lord,
and know what I’m feeling, especially my anxiety.
See if there’s anything disturbing
me and then help me discover Your perfect peace.
